Hans

Once I enter the car, the blonde vamp jumps in the seat next to me. She pulls out a blindfold that she ties over my eyes. Great, I’m in a car with two vamps and no weapons and now I can’t see. This is not going to end well.

“No peeking, home is a surprise,” she whispers in my ear, sending a shiver down my spine.

We sit in silence; the hum of the engine is the noise that fills my ears.

The blonde prods me, “What is your name?”

I ignore her question.

“It doesn’t matter, once I turn you I will rename you,” she muses.

I try to control my heart rate and steady my breathing. I can’t let her know she is getting to me. I do my best playing it cool, but sweat is starting to bead up on my brow. Lucky for me, I have this blindfold on to soak it up.

I hear a voice from the front of the car say, “I like this one, for a mortal he is yummy.”

The blonde that has now scooted even closer to me hisses at the other vamp. “He is mine! I dare anyone to try and take him from me.” She trails a fingernail up and down my arm, and the hair on my arms stands on end.

The SUV stops with a lurch; I hit my head on the window. I stay quiet, but grimace from the headache that is now starting.

I hear the whine of metal as if gates are being opened, and the SUV accelerates forward.

The blindfold slips from my face, I am now looking at a dimly lit manor. From where I am sitting, it is vast, so much so I can’t see where it ends.

Once again the blonde leans in and whispers, “Welcome home.”

I can see her smirk showing a little fang in the rear view mirror, along with the female vamp driver’s.

The blonde exits the SUV, and motions for me to follow her. As much as I’d like to refuse, I’m not an idiot, so I play along.

My feet hit the swampy grass, it moves under my feet. Blondie grips my arm; she leads me into the manor.

I don’t have much time to look around; I am carried up a few flights of stairs in a blur. I don’t even have a chance to count them.

We stop in front of a plain, wooden door, it seems a little out of place in this massive manor, and the lock is on the outside.

She opens the door and pushes me in, “I hope this room is up to your liking.”

In a blur she flicks on a lamp next to a metal-framed bed. “Come, lay down now.”

I feel a compulsion to obey, but I’m able to shake it off. I do follow her orders; I need this to go as smoothly as possible until my sister can get here.

I lay on my back, the mattress is a little lumpy and a spring is poking into my side. I don’t speak or show the annoyance on my face.
